FAQs
For optimum stability and performance in the water, we recommend all Samphire boards are pumped up to 15psi.
The valve pin opens and closes the valve, keeping the air in the board when needed, and allowing you to deflate the board easily when left open.
Before pumping the board, ensure the valve pin is in the ‘upright’ position, as below. This allows air to be pumped into the board, but does not allow air to escape when the pump is removed. If the pin is left in the ‘sunken’ depressed position, air will escape when the pump is removed.
When deflating the board, depress and twist the valve pin - the pin will stay locked in the depressed position and allow air to escape.
If you need to let a little air out of the board, just depress the pin slightly without twisting.
Around 10-12 minutes.
Note: It will take around 7-8 minutes of pumping before the needle on the gauge starts to move. During these ~7 minutes, the board will inflate and it will take the final shape of the board - but only then will pressure start to increase on the pressure gauge. Do not expect to see any movement on the pressure gauge for the first ~7 minutes of pumping - even if your board has taken its full shape and looks like a fully inflated paddleboard! Pressure will gradually increase from ~0psi to ~15psi in the last 5 minutes or so of pumping.
Thanks to the premium construction, Samphire boards can be stored inflated, but not in direct sunlight or particularly warm areas. We'd recommend releasing a little air from the board whilst stored to account for temperature changes and air expansion. We'd also suggest not leaving it fully inflated for very long periods (over a week).
The repair kit contains 2x PVC repair patches, and a valve key. The valve key is used for tightening or replacing the valve. (Note, due to import restrictions, no glue is provided with the repair kit. If required, please source elsewhere. We recommend any waterproof, flexible glue for use on PVC).
Please be aware, it will take around 7-8 minutes of pumping before the needle on the gauge starts to move. Samphire paddleboards can arrive with the two flexible side fins slightly out of shape due to being compressed when packed and transported. These are designed to be flexible and malleable, and will straighten over time once unpacked - and can be helped along by hand if required.
Included with every pump hose is a small elastic band. If your pump and valve form a slightly imperfect seal (there is audible hissing of air escaping whilst pumping) please add the included band to the pump nozzle, as per the below images. This will help create an airtight seal between the pump nozzle and valve.
If sand finds its way into and under the fin securing mechanism it can obstruct removal of the fin securing clip. We recommend you rinse your board after use, paying special attention to the fin area to clear all sand. This should allow your fin to be easily removed.
Samphire boards have a 2 year manufacturer warranty as standard.
